Uv Air Purifier

im looking for an air purifier for 200 or under that has multiple technologies, such as UV, HEPA, carbon filter etc. i suffer from allergies and need something to get rid of bacteria in the air as i also get sick often. I would also need something for cat hair.

Our basement has a bit of a musky smell, and i’m just wondering if an air purifier would help to get rid of the smell, and would it help for people with asthma? I just find that when i spend time in the basement, my asthma starts to act up.

I am researching about UV lightbulbs in water purifiers, those use ultraviolet light and since the sun has ultraviolet light just wondering if it’s possible to make them more efficient and somehow incoroprate the sun into treating the water. Can we somehow store ultraviolet light from the sun?

We just purchased a new air purifier, and it has an odd smell coming from it. I believe it is an ionic type, I think I found it is the smell of ozone coming out, ut not sure. Is that harmful to people and animals?

The UV bulb in my Fresh Air purifier went out, so I replaced with bulbs from eBay (hopefully, this isn’t the problem). The unit IS producing the typical UV light/glow, so I know the bulb works. But when I switch it to "Sanitize," I don’t get that ozone-y, charged air smell that I used to get. That makes me think it isn’t doing its magic. I assumed that the UV portion of the functioning is fine as it seems to make sense to me that the UV is either "go" or "no-go." I wouldn’t think that it can be "kinda" UV. Anyone know what part of the device is most likely to go out that would affect the sanitizing smell?

Thanks so much for your help. BTW, can you summarize your opposition to the devices? I’ve heard that there has been criticism of these units, but haven’t known what to believe. I’m not sure the thing has even been beneficial, so, if I can get it working right, I’m tempted to just sell it.

I’ve had ozone generator air purifiers in the past. I hated them. I do not want an ozone producing air purifier, but more of an air filter. However, filters that have to be replaced are a pain. Does anyone make an air filter with a washable filtration system?

I’m open to suggestions, if you have a brand that you’re happy with, let me know!

I just want to know whats a better, longer lasting purifier I can get. I really liked it and I have asthma so they make it alot easier to breathe but I just don’ t want one that’ll die in a year, especially since the ionic pros were over a 0 a piece. Please give me suggestions. Thank you

The device is filtering air, but I had read that negative ions generally lead to a lot of dust accumulation on furniture, walls, etc. I dont see any evidence of dust accumulation. Am staying in a very polluted environment and just wanted to ensure the thing is working.

When you could just get a replacement filter and stick it in front of a fan. Aside from the UV and ionization technologies, there isn’t much more to most filters, and somehow, they get to over 0 pretty easily.
