Uv Air Purifier

I live on the coast in a valley and my house has a lot of mold I suspect between the walls. He gets asthma issues nightly, and I have been having sinusitis and pressure behind my eyes, muscle aches etc. We are otherwise healthy, young and vibrant but since living here for 8 months, we have really been getting sick. Do you think that a Honeywell air purifier would help to eliminate the mold? What can we do? To live here is expensive so we cant just move and our jobs are here. What can we do to "tough it out" one more year until we move?

I was given a HoneyWell 52500 air purifier a while back from a friend. I’m not sure how much it was used or if the filter or pre-filter was replaced because his parents gave it to him.

Is there anyway I can tell if it needs a new prefilter and/or a new filter? Together they cost nearly 0, so I’d rather not just buy it for the heck of it.

I am interested in buying a couple of Austin Air HealthMate air purifiers – one for my home, and one for my classroom. At 0 each, this is no small investment. They seem to be quality units – but what about the SOUND? Would it be too loud to teach or talk over? Thanks!

I just bought a Honeywell Air Purifier off of craigslist.com. It works fine but gives off a subtle smell of the house where I bought it from. It bothers me! The ads online for the air purifier say you don’t replace the filters but merely wash them. How do I do so? Just run them under water?

I’d love to hear from people who have air purifiers and are happy with their performance. I’m especially interested in non-HEPA types. Also, has anyone tried Eden Pure brand?

Im planning to buy air purifier for our room, the one thats no need to replace filters cause its too expensive. im choosing between oreck table top and airfree onix 3000, can anybody help me choose the best or is there any other purifier thats better that doesnt need to replace the filter?

I recently moved into an older house. It does not have central air. Just ceiling mounted fans, radiators, and window AC units. I am noticing a large amount of dust accumulating. On campus there is a meditation room. The air there smells great, I believe it is ionized. Do you have any suggestions or recomendationgs for an (ionic?) air purifier?

I have put into the search engines of "Lumipure AP 74, manual" and tried "Lumipure AP 74, cleaning" and a few other attempts but found nothing that might tell me how to clean this air purifier. I hope someone can help.
Inside the purifier, it seems to have no filters, (which it boasts that they never need replaced – could be why – they don’t exist) but it does have two metal canisters – one that fits inside of another vertically. I thought perhaps they need rinsed off? But don’t want to do the wrong thing if it is also an ioniazer? Or is the ioniazer from the light it has? ??

What kind of air purifier is it? Does it work for spaces up to 1000 Sq ft.? Does it really remove odors quickly and permanently? Have you found less sickness, alergies and more fresh air because of your particular kind of equipement? Roughly how much did you pay? What don’t you like about your air purifier if anything? Thanx!

Does anyone recall an add for an Air Purifier that used a bowl of water to collect dust? i think i saw a year ago, i cant recall the name. anyone seen it lately or recall the name?

I just moved into a garage apartment in which no one has lived in for quite some time. There is dust everywhere, as soon as I go into the place i start sneezing from the dust, so I’m looking for a really good air purifier for under 0.00 that will eliminate all this dust from the air. As well as mold, pollen, ragweed and other particles. What is a good brand and where can i get one?

I recently bought an air purifier. it has a switch that, when set to that, sends negative ions into the air. I read the instruction booklet and it said that the negative ions attach to dust and make it easier to purify. It said they were natural and harmless. Great, i thought.

It has another setting that turns off the negative ions but still leaves it running. Why would you want to? If they are so helpful? Should i be only using the negative ions for part of the day? Is there some reason to have it working with out this feature?
Mine actually does work, made a big difference with my allergies. Maybe i got the one that actually does work.

My son gets Pneumonia very easily and the doctor suggested that an air purifier may be a good thing in our home.

The heating is kept on alot during the day now it is winter and i’m wondering if a humidifier or air purifier would help decrease asthma, allergies ir respiratory conditions in my six week old as it mentions in the mothercare catalogue. Does anyone use these and find them effective or am i fine just using a bowl of water?

I just moved and the apartment I live in is effecting my asthma because of mold. I cannot move at the moment and the only thing I can think of is to get an air purifier.
I just moved into an apartment and I have asthma. Something in that apartment is effecting my asthma. The first thing that my doctor suggested is that there might be mold in the apartment. I cannot see any mold anywhere. We also repainted the apartment, do you think that may be the problem. Would an air purifier help in any way?

I learned that the Sharp air purifiers’ HEPA filters have an Apatite component to it that apparently provides antibacterial properties to protect the filters from microbial accumulation. Is Apatite a relatively "safe" material to use for an air filter, i.e. is it safe for the resident who is breathing air that comes through the filter? Apatite (a very general term) is usually made up of phosphorus and calcium, but some variants (ie. arsenates like mimemite) may contain arsenic. Could this be a health issue for users? Would the filters use arsenic-based variants in the first place, or are other forms more prevalent and likely to be used in medical/industrial applications?

I saw the oreck air purifiers and I think those look like they work very well. I want one that makes the house smell very fresh. The oreck was arounf 350 dollars. Now I am willing to pay that much if it is a good one and it works. Does anyone know if it is as good as they make it sound?

How well do you like it? Does it seem to work for you? I have one, but it does not seem to do a really good job helping my hayfever. I wonder if I need a bigger one or a different type of air purifier.
I have an Oreck 2000. A filter on the furnace would not be practical, since it would only run during cold weather and I need it to go when the weather is warm. We do not have central air.

I live close to a paper mill and have pets…so when I try to air my home out to get rid of pet odor smells….I get yucky smelling paper mill smells mixed with the existing pet odors. I’m hoping to find an air purifier that works and will greatly reduce the odors in my home since it seems I can’t get fresh air in through my windows!

Are there any air purifiers other than the Ionic Breeze that doesn’t need replacement filters? I read that Consumer Reports declared the Ionic Breeze ineffective in cleaning the air, and I want something that doesn’t need filters replaced.

I have just been prescribed medical marijuana, And I am wondering if an air purifier would get rid of the marijuana smell because my wife does not like the smell of it. Thanks
